Conference on "Applying New Technologies to Cultural Heritage"
Description:
The 6th Conference on Art and Heritage in the Seu d'Ègara held this year is dedicated to "The application of new technologies to the history of ancient and medieval art. Current status and future challenges" brings citizens closer to a new way of looking at cultural heritage and, at the same time, creates a space for reflection and debate on the role of new technologies.
The activity, which will be attended by specialists from different institutions and universities, is the result of the collaboration of the City Council of Terrassa with the association Terrassa amb la Seu d'Ègara (TASE) and the CORE network of Cultural Heritage at the UAB, which brings together more than 40 research groups and centres, institutes, schools and university departments, as well as research infrastructures and scientific and technical services in collaboration with the public and private sector.
Throughout the conference, the speakers will analyse new digital tools that allow to advance in the knowledge of monuments and works of art (3D digitisation, virtual, immersive and augmented reality, videomapping).
The setting of the meeting, the Seu d'Ègara, is a monumental complex that has already been the scene of initiatives that demonstrate this digital transition, such as the videomapping carried out in 2019, or the digital photogrammetry of Sant Miquel promoted by the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology. Recently, in the framework of the Government of Catalonia's Giravolt project, a dozen objects from the collection of the Museum of Terrassa corresponding to the Iberian and Roman periods were also scanned.
Attendance is free, but those interested must register to attend.
Place: Seu d'Ègara, Terrassa (Plaça del Rector Homs s/n)
Date: Monday 27, November2023 - 09:15h
End date: Monday 27, November2023 - 19:00h
