In a constantly evolving scientific context, and in the framework of Open Science, research evaluation has become a key element to guarantee the quality and relevance of the knowledge generated. In this sense, research and innovation policies at European, Spanish and Catalan levels have adopted a proactive approach to the transformation of evaluation systems, with the aim of promoting transparency, diversity and excellence in scientific production.

One of the essential pillars of this process of change is the active collaboration of the evaluation agencies with the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). This coalition, made up of over 600 organisations, has as its main mission the promotion of fairer and more effective research assessment practices. By adopting new approaches and new metrics, the coalition seeks to overcome the limitations of traditional systems and to foster a culture of assessment that recognises the diversity of forms of scientific contribution, establishing more inclusive and equitable criteria that better reflect the complexity and breadth of contemporary research.

This session will provide insight into recent innovations in research evaluation systems, highlighting the importance of addressing issues such as metrics, quality, societal impact and scientific integrity.
