The Institute collaborates with Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera to foster young scientific talent
This July, the Institute of Neurosciences has taken part in two of Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera's leading programmes aimed at promoting scientific vocations: the Barcelona International Youth Science Challenge (BIYSC) and Joves i Ciència.
These two initiatives give young people the opportunity to take part in an immersive experience at leading research centres and gain first-hand insight into how scientific research is carried out.
As part of the BIYSC programme, the Institute welcomed a group of international students who developed the project "The Neurobiology of Trauma". Over the course of two weeks, the participants worked closely with researchers from AnderoLab and the laboratory led by Dr Lydia Giménez, exploring the neurobiological mechanisms involved in trauma while gaining hands-on experience in laboratory techniques and scientific methodology.
At the same time, through the Joves i Ciència programme, one student is undertaking a research placement at QuintanaLab, where they are learning about research into mitochondrial diseases and experiencing first-hand what biomedical research involves.
Through this double collaboration, the Institute of Neurosciences reaffirms its commitment to training the next generation of scientists, helping to inspire future research careers and bringing cutting-edge research closer to young talent.
