Come visit us at the Science Festival!
Once again, researchers from the Institute will take part in the Barcelona Science Festival, which will be held on April 18 and 19.
The Barcelona Festa de la Ciència celebrates its nineteenth edition and, once again, we didn’t want to miss it. That’s why, together with Neurodocs, we have organized several activities for audiences of all ages.
Brains through time: a microscopic journey through brain aging
- Date: Saturday 18/04/2026
- Time: 13:20 - 14:25
- Age: 8+ years
- Summary: Discover how aging affects neurons using real samples of human and primate brains in an activity for curious minds! You will learn how the brain works, which cells it is made of, and how we study neurodegenerative diseases from a neuroscience perspective.
Train your brain to regain emotional balance with Neurofeedback
- Date: Saturday, 18/04/2026
- Time: 17:35 – 18:20
- Age: 12+
- Summary: Did you know you can learn to regulate your brain activity in real time? Discover how Neurofeedback uses brain signals to improve emotional regulation. Learn about the European RESoNATE project, which investigates how this technique, combined with artificial intelligence, can help with depression and transform the future of mental health.
SCIENCE SLAM: Train your brain to regain emotional balance with Neurofeedback
- Date: Saturday, 18/04/2026
- Time: 18:55 – 19:00
- Age: 16+
- Summary: Did you know it is possible to learn to regulate your brain activity in real time? In this short talk, you will discover how Neurofeedback uses brain signals to support better emotional regulation.
Neuroscience speed dating
- Date: Saturday, 18/04/2026
- Time: 20:15 – 21:00
- Age: 16+
- Summary: Are there things about the brain that intrigue you but you don’t know who to ask? In this space, you’ll have a quick date with a neuroscientist and ask anything you want. After 5 minutes, the bell rings—and you can switch seats if you like!
Escape Room: the forgetful mouse
- Date: Saturday, 18/04/2026
- Time: 21:10 – 21:55
- Age: 14+
- Summary: Become a neuroscientist for a day and solve the case “The Forgetful One”! This mini scientific escape room challenges you to diagnose the memory loss of M-17. Simulate key experiments (LTP, synapse) to identify the biological failure. Learn about synaptic plasticity and neurodegeneration in a fun, hands-on way. Put your skills to the test!
The brain’s neighbors
- Date: Sunday, 19/04/2026
- Time: 11:05 – 12:45
- Age: 4–8
- Summary: Did you know that inside your head there’s a city full of secret neighbors? They’re so small they’re invisible! Come meet the Neuron Postmen, the Astrocyte Chefs, and your brain’s cleaning crew. We’ll use a microscope to spy on them and bring them to life with fun colors. A fantastic mission!
Inside Out: discover how your brain feels
- Date: Sunday, 19/04/2026
- Time: 12:40 – 13:25
- Age: 8–14
- Summary: Did you know your brain “decides” whether Joy, Sadness, or Fear is in control? Learn how your emotions connect in your mind, Inside Out–style! Explore neuronal communication with 3D models, identify which parts are activated, and discover the neurotransmitters behind each emotion. Become a neuroscientist for a day and discover how your brain feels!
We look forward to seeing you there!
