01.05 Laboratori d'Informació Geogràfica i de Teledetecció

The Laboratori d'Informació Geogràfica i de Teledetecció was established in 1987 as a technical and research support unit within the Department of Geography at the UAB. Its main objective was to promote the use of digital technologies applied to spatial information, including digital cartography, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS).

For more than three decades, LIGIT served as a leading centre for the production and management of geospatial data, providing training, technical support, and digital resources to researchers, students, and professionals alike.

In 2021, LIGIT ceased to operate as an independent unit, but its functions were integrated into the institutional structure of the UAB.
