01.30 Escola Universitària d'Infermeria de la Diputació de Girona

Escola Universitària d’Infermeria de la Diputació de Girona has its origins in the former Auxiliar Tècnic Sanitari schools associated with the hospitals of Girona. In the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s, the Diputació de Girona promoted the creation of its own institution in order to provide modern and structured healthcare education in the Girona region.

As part of the process of professionalizing and enhancing nursing education, the school chose to become affiliated with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. This affiliation enabled it to offer the Diplomatura d’Infermeria under university academic supervision, following the curricula, quality standards, and faculty requirements established by the UAB. While the school retained its own administrative management, its degrees and academic regulations were governed by the university.

With the creation of the Universitat de Girona (UdG) in 1991, nursing studies were progressively integrated into the new university. This led to the end of the school's affiliation with the UAB and its full incorporation into the UdG, eventually giving rise to the present-day Facultat d’Infermeria.
