01.28 Escola Universitària d'Estudis Empresarials de Girona
Escola Universitària d’Estudis Empresarials de Girona emerged at a time when the city did not yet have a fully established university of its own. During the 1970s and 1980s, several local initiatives promoted the creation of higher education institutions that would allow students to pursue university studies without having to move to Barcelona. In this context, the business studies school was established and chose to operate as an affiliated institution of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Its affiliation with the UAB enabled it to offer the Diplomatura en Ciències Empresarials as an officially recognized qualification, following the curricula, academic standards, and quality requirements established by the university. The institution maintained its own management in Girona while remaining under the academic supervision of the UAB, ensuring the official recognition of its degrees and consistency with the programmes taught in Bellaterra.
With the creation and consolidation of the Universitat de Girona (UdG) from 1991 onwards, the university landscape in Girona underwent significant changes. The new university progressively integrated the existing institutions and academic programmes in the region, including the Escola Universitària d’Empresarials. This process led to the end of its affiliation with the UAB and the full incorporation of business studies into the academic structure of the UdG.
