01.27 Facultat de Dret de Palma de Mallorca

Facultat de Dret de Palma de Mallorca was established in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when several private institutions and foundations in the Balearic Islands promoted the creation of university studies in Mallorca in fields where no local higher education provision yet existed.

It was conceived as a private university institution affiliated with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). This affiliation made it possible to offer the official Llicenciatura en Dret under the academic and regulatory supervision of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

During its years of operation, the institution followed the curricula, faculty requirements, and assessment systems established by the UAB, while maintaining its own management structure in Mallorca. This affiliation remained in place until the consolidation of the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) and the expansion of its academic offerings, at which point Law studies became fully integrated into the Balearic public university system.
