03.01 Can Altayó
Can Altayó was a 19th-century farmhouse located on the land now occupied by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona campus in Bellaterra. It is believed to have been owned by the Altayó family, a family with a long agricultural tradition, until the end of the 19th century, when ownership passed to the Turull family.
On 30 April 1943, the Turull family sold the farmhouse, together with its surrounding land, to Mr. Ramon Sabaté Pons. Subsequently, on 18 May 1972, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona acquired the property by purchasing it from Mr. Sabaté’s widow. This transaction formed part of the land acquisition process that enabled the consolidation of the university campus.
