One project, several TFGs: a new programme to turn ideas into real products
The UAB Undergraduate Launch Program, promoted by the UAB School of Engineering and Entrepreneurship, allows you to work in multidisciplinary teams for ten months, using MIT methodology and receiving business mentoring. Projects can be linked to the Final Degree Project.
This new initiative is aimed at students who want to solve real-world problems and turn them into valuable products or solutions.
The ten-month programme combines training, work in multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring by senior professionals with business experience. Participants will go through the entire process, from identifying a need to developing and validating a first solution.
A key distinguishing feature of the programme is the opportunity to convert the project developed during the course into an Applied Final Degree Project linked to a real-world challenge. Depending on the academic profile of each team member, the same project can give rise to different individual and complementary TFGs, ranging from the technical development of a prototype to the business model, commercialisation strategy or scientific validation.
MIT methodology and project-based learning
The training programme consists of 24 steps based on the Disciplined Entrepreneurship methodology developed by Bill Aulet at MIT. Teams will work progressively on aspects such as identifying customers, analysing the market, creating a value proposition, developing a prototype, designing a business model and formulating a marketing strategy.
The programme is not solely designed for students who want to start a company. The skills covered, such as problem validation, product development, working across disciplines and building relationships with customers and users, can also be applied to innovation and intrapreneurship processes within companies and organisations.
You can contribute your own idea or talent to another project
It is not necessary to have a previous idea to participate. Students can present their own problem or challenge and look for complementary profiles to help develop it, or join a project promoted by other participants and contribute their knowledge and skills.
Although the programme is primarily intended for fourth-year students from the School of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics, it is also open to students from other courses and centres at UAB. The aim is to create teams with diverse profiles.
Ignition Day will kick off the program
The first major event, Ignition Day, will take place on 2 October 2026. On this day, the challenges will be presented and participants will have the opportunity to meet each other. The multidisciplinary teams that will work together throughout the programme will also be formed.
The development phase begins in October and combines training content, thematic sessions, independent work and regular mentoring with senior professionals. This will culminate in July 2027 with Orbit Day: a public event where the teams will present their projects to professionals, UAB representatives and agents of the entrepreneurial and business ecosystem.
