Over 100 hours of training in entrepreneurship and scientific knowledge transfer for master's and doctoral students
The programme is celebrating its 7th edition with 30 participants from six Catalan universities. This edition will run until December and will culminate in a Demo Day, where participants will present their projects to mentors, university representatives and members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The seventh edition of the From Science to Market programme began this morning at the University of Barcelona. This is an inter-university initiative promoted by the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, the University of Girona and the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, with the support of the Government of Catalonia and co-financing from the European Union.
The programme, aimed at master's and doctoral students and early-stage researchers, aims to promote entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer, accompanying participants in the process of turning their academic projects into innovation opportunities with an impact on society. Over the coming months, they will receive specialised training, personalised mentoring and direct contact with the Catalan innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The inaugural session, held at StartUB!, was dedicated to an introduction to entrepreneurship, given by Marta Zaragoza. In the coming days, participants will work on topics such as innovation, creativity and design thinking, guided by leading experts such as Alfons Cornella and Diana Pinos.
With a total of more than 100 hours of practical training, the programme combines face-to-face and online sessions with visits to strategic locations within the Catalan ecosystem, including Pier01 (Barcelona Tech City), the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), the CIM Centre, the Girona Science and Technology Park and the Alba Synchrotron. In addition, participants will strengthen cross-cutting skills—such as communication, teamwork, and entrepreneurial mindset—that complement the academic dimension with a practical approach.
Promoted in collaboration with StartUB!, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), the UAB Research Park and Empren UPC, From Science to Market has already trained more than 150 participants in its six previous editions, contributing to the creation of 12 start-ups, including Gate2Brain, Mitiga Solutions and Koa Biotech.
This edition will run until December and will culminate in a Demo Day, where the 30 participants will present their projects to mentors, university representatives and members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
