Teaching and Learning to Understand Contemporary Problems and Conflicts
The project “Teaching and Learning to Interpret Contemporary Problems and Conflicts: What Social Sciences Contribute to the Formation of a Critical Global Citizenship” has two main objectives:
-
To examine which contemporary problems and conflicts teachers address in their classrooms and how they approach them. Special attention is given to teaching students how to interpret information — particularly that circulating online and on social media — about socially relevant issues, so that they can respond in an informed way by applying critical literacy processes.
-
To develop and propose criteria that enable students to interpret controversial issues in today’s world, form well-founded opinions, and act responsibly and critically.
