Faculty Council
The Faculty Council, formerly the Faculty Board, is the collegiate governing body of the Faculty and is made up of representatives of academic staff, students and administrative and service staff of all the courses and degrees taught at the Faculty. The Faculty Council will be made up of 70 members.
Functions
The functions of the Faculty Council are to:
- Prepare and approve the Faculty Regulations.
- Call elections for dean.
- Elect the dean and revoke them.
- To ensure the execution of the faculty's action plan.
- Approve the teaching plan and ensure the organisation of teaching.
- Prepare the draft curricula.
- Participate in the preparation of proposals for the creation of new degrees or the withdrawal of existing degrees.
- Approve the annual budget and the accountability for the application of that budget at the end of each financial year.
- Report on the creation, modification or cancellation of departments and the affiliation of centres that teach the degrees assigned to the faculty.
- Establish specific mechanisms for monitoring the quality of teaching in the faculty, the execution of which corresponds to the standing committees.
- Resolve, at the proposal of the study coordinators, any conflicts that may arise with the departments and areas of knowledge or specialties related to the assignment of teaching subjects.
- Propose the appointment of doctors and honorary doctors.
- Create committees, in addition to the standing committees established in the faculty regulations.
- To approve the implementation of a general, non-binding consultation with all members of the university community in the faculty on the aspects that it considers appropriate within the scope of its powers.
- Approve the proposal for the creation of sections.
- Any other power attributed to it by the UAB Statutes and other applicable regulations.
