Dr. Lorena Chanes, researcher at the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), recently participated as a speaker in a seminar organized by the Fundación Tatiana focused on the book Neurociencia de la Conciencia: Una visión crítica de su abordaje científico actual (Tecnos, 2025). The event was held in Madrid on January 21, 2026, and brought together specialists in neuroscience, philosophy, and related disciplines to discuss contemporary approaches to the study of human consciousness.

The seminar, organized by the International Center for Neuroscience and Ethics (CINET) of the Fundación Tatiana, focused on a critical analysis of the main current scientific theories of consciousness. Dr. Chanes took part in the discussion as the author of one of the book’s chapters, contributing a perspective based on neuroscience and the predictive brain model, which complements the book’s interdisciplinary approach.

The event also featured contributions from other authors of the book, such as Dr. Javier Bernácer (neuroscientist and philosopher, and editor of the volume) and Professor Juan Arana (philosopher), who shared reflections on the main explanatory perspectives on consciousness and their implications for current cognitive sciences.

Neurociencia de la Conciencia is aimed both at an academic audience and at readers interested in a critical approach to one of the central problems in neuroscience and the philosophy of mind.
