Nou article: “Peptideins: Navigating the gray zone of the proteome”

Resum:

Les seqüències traduïdes sovint es consideren o bé gens o bé soroll. Un estudi recent del Consorci TransCODE, realitzat per Deutsch et al., introdueix el concepte de les peptideïnes: proteïnes endògenes amb evidència de síntesi, però amb un estatus biològic encara no resolt. Aquest concepte ofereix una manera prudent d’ampliar el proteoma humà tot mantenint la distinció entre la traducció, la detecció molecular i la funció biològica.
