English for teaching & research staff

General information

Characteristics 
20-hour courses for teaching and research staff in on-site mode aimed at writing academic/scientific articles, conference presentations or improving pronunciation and, more generally, heightening a knowledge of English. 

Preparation for the EMI Examination for Teaching and Research Staff is aimed at university lecturers who want to prepare for the exam which accredits that they have the necessary linguistic competences to carry out their teaching activity at the university in the English language.

There may be changes to courses at the Language Service if the university, in accordance with the health authorities, decides to place restrictions on face-to-face teaching.

Successful completion of 5 of the Language Service (B2.2 of the MECR) or equivalent (or pass a level test).

For the Advanced Presenting Research and Advanced Research Papers courses requires successful completion of the Presenting Research and Research Papers courses respectively or successful completion of level 6 of the Language Service (C1.1 of the MECR) or equivalent (or pass a level test).

For the Preparation for the EMI examinations for Teaching and Research Staff requires successful completion of level 6 of the Language Service (C1.1 of the MECR) or equivalent (or pass a level test).

For all courses it is essential to belong to the university community.

Onine form (not open from 3 to 10 April)

To enrol on a course you need to show a certificate to confirm you have the level required or else take a level test.

Opening hours:

  • September, October, January, February, May and June
    Mondays to Thursdays, 9 to 14 and 15 to 20 h
    Fridays, 9 to 14 and 15 to 19 h
  • November, December, March, Arpil and July
    Mondays to Fridays, 10 to 13.30 and 15 to 19.30 h.

Please note:

- Your enrolment will be finalised when we have confirmed that the entry requirements have been met.
- The number of places on our courses is limited, so we deal with enrolment requests in the order they arrive.
- When you have enrolled, we will contact you to confirm this and give you the payment instructions, where appropriate.

UAB Idiomes reserves the right to cancel a group if a minimum number of students has not enrolled.

The week before the start of the course, if there are places available, academic staff from other universities, doctorate, master and postdoc students will be able to enrol.

* The total amount is the price of the course plus administrative management fees (€40).

- The second enrolments and subsequent registrations have a bonus of €40
- Associated University Community has a 15% disccount on external prices.
- Returned receipts and refunds incur a handling fee payable by the bank account holder. The amount of this handling fee is € 2.50.
