Petra Benyei participates in the European Citizen Science Association Conference
ICTA-UAB researcher Petra Benyei is participating in the 2020 European Citizen Science Association Conference, which is taking place virtually from September 6-9th. Petra Benyei, who is member of the LICCI project, will be in the Parallel session 19 on Wednesday at 12h CEST.

She is one of the presenters of the session “Fragile contexts and indigenous communities” and she will talk about the work carried out by her research group on citizen science. Despite the benefits of bridging different knowledge systems to advance science and policy/management, citizen science still mostly engages people from Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic contexts and is designed to fit western scientific epistemologies and worldviews.
In this session it will be presented four projects that, under the transdisciplinarity and extreme citizen science approach, are working with communities from non-western contexts to advance climate and conservation science and to propose better solutions towards the sustainable management of resources. After the presentations, they will discuss common lessons learned regarding challenges, opportunities and good practices when working in these fragile contexts.
