Patrizia Ziveri to take part in the First Gender Equality Event
ICTA-UAB researcher Patrizia Ziveri and María Blasco, from CNIO, will make the welcome remarks in the SOMMa Centres’ FIRST GENDER EQUALITY EVENT, which is taking place at CNIO on Tuesday, 29th October. It is organised in collaboration with the British Embassy in Madrid.
Gender expert Cheryl Smythe from the Babraham Institute in the UK will speak at this event. Following her work to implement the gender equality measurements at the Babraham, the Institution received the Athena-SWAN for the Babraham. This award recognises positive gender practices and is now a requirement in order to apply for research funding in the UK and, from next year on, in Ireland as well. It is also very likely to be implemented in the EU very soon. Dr. Smythe has also been part of LIBRA, a European project with a focus on gender led by the CRG. After Dr. Smythe’s talk. There will beshort-talks from different SOMMa Directors presenting successful stories on gender equality, scientific excellence and leadership in their Institutions.
