Isabelle Anguelovski receives an European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant
The researcher Isabelle Anguelovski of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB) has been graced with a Starting Grant of the European Research Council (ERC). Being a very competitive program, proposals are assessed only in terms of their scientific excellence.
Isabelle Anguelovski is a social scientist trained in urban and environmental planning, and her research is situated at the intersection of urban planning and policy, social inequality, and development studies. She is committed to environmental justice and most of her research is centered on studying processes and dynamics that lead to more just, resilient, healthy, and sustainable cities. She has been recently chosen as World Social Science Fellow of the International Social Science Council. She will be part of the 20 leading scientists in the world in the field of sustainable development.
The Starting Grant will finance the project Green Locally Unwanted Land Uses- GREENLULUS which aims to examine the role played by the restoration and creation of environmental amenities in the redistribution of urban quality of life. The project will analyze whether greening projects tend to increase environmental inequalities in 40 cities in the US and Europe.
