ICTA-UAB to organize the International Conference 2020 on Low-Carbon Lifestyle Changes
ICTA-UAB will host the International Conference 2020 on Low-Carbon Lifestyle Changes with the aim of exploring the role of changing lifestyles in climate change mitigation. The conference will take place in Barcelona on May 6-8 2020.

Decreasing energy demand and promoting more sustainable consumption patterns are regarded as key elements for limiting global warming to 1.5 °C. However, the study of the lifestyle changes required for such purpose has received limited academic attention to date. As is tradition at ICTA-UAB, this conference will bring together researchers from different academic disciplines to address and discuss the impacts, drivers and policies of low-carbon lifestyles.
The conference will feature three keynote speeches from Angela Druckman, Lorraine Whitmarsh, and Céline Guivarch, as well as a public debate in Barcelona on May 7, and remote participation will be also possible.
The organizing team encourages contributions from any field of knowledge that addresses the topic of lifestyle changes along one of the three conference themes (Drivers, Impacts, and Policies). Contributions can be submitted by January 15th 2020, and it can be presented orally or as a poster.
In the framework of the theme “Drivers”, contributions tackling the social, economic and psychological drivers of carbon-intensive lifestyles will be welcome. The theme “Impacts” aims at delving into the mitigation potential of different lifestyle changes, and the theme “Policies” seeks to analyze how low-carbon lifestyles can be promoted through public policy.
