Dr. Martí Boada appointed Honorary Member of the Barcelona Zoo Foundation
ICTA-UAB researcher Dr. Martí Boada has been appointed Honorary Member by the Board of Trustees of the Barcelona Zoo Foundation. The honorary members are appointed on a proposal from Barcelona’s mayor among relevant people in the fields of research, teaching, culture, business, industry and finance. Dr. Boada, who is the director of the research group “Conservation, Biodiversity and Global Change (Nycticorax)” has joined the organization as a consultant in scientific issues.
The Board of Trustees is the highest body of government and administration of the Barcelona Zoo Foundation. The foundation's core mission is the promotion, development and fostering of research, conservation, education and awareness projects. The objective of these projects is to become, from a public service perspective, an instrument geared towards the preservation of biodiversity, knowledge generation and awareness-raising of the protection and preservation of the planet's ecosystems and animal and plant species, as well as the interrelationship occurring between different life forms.
In short, the foundation will become a new instrument of the city, the city council and the civil society, represented by its Board of Trustees, to assist with the development of zoological work beyond the elements of management and marketing of the Barcelona Zoo.
