Amalia Calderón Argelich explores decision-making in the face of the climate crisis, at CUIMPB
Amalia Calderón Argelich, a researcher at ICTA-UAB, participated as a speaker in the course "Science, Politics, and Citizenship," organized by the CUIMPB – Centre Ernest Lluch at the CCCB.
The event brought together experts from various fields to reflect on how scientific knowledge can strengthen democratic deliberation and the effectiveness of public policies.
The ICTA-UAB researcher's intervention focused on the September 30th session, which was dedicated to public decision-making regarding global and complex issues. In the session "Deciding on Global Issues: Climate Change," moderated by Jaume Blasco, Calderón Argelich served as a keynote speaker alongside researcher Mar Reguant. During the presentation, discussions centered on how to articulate scientific evidence on climate change—generated at different scales—within political processes involving diverse actors and interests.
Following the session, Calderón Argelich actively participated in the subsequent panel discussion on climate policy, as well as in the course's closing discussion, where she shared insights on the relationship between science, technology, and society alongside fellow experts such as Marta Peirano and Paola Ricaurte.
Through her participation, ICTA-UAB reaffirms its commitment to knowledge transfer and to reflecting on the role of scientific evidence in public policy when addressing the climate emergency.
