We have the pleasure to invite you to the workshop led by filmmaker Alberto Bougleux in the context of the Knowledge Transfer activities of the Maria de Maeztu Unit of Excellence.
Workshop: "Documentary Filmmaking and Socio-Environmental Sciences: Experiences, Perspectives, and Tools"
With Alberto Bougleux, filmmaker
Date: Tuesday, November 14th , 2023
Time: From 13h30 to 15h30
Venue: Sala Z/033 - ICTA-UAB (Please mark the date and register here ASAP)
The workshop will explore how the creative art process can interact with science and research through the use of documentary filmmaking and reflect on the following questions: What is a story? How is a story told? Why and where do stories matter as social objects? Why do story-telling tools matter for socio-environmental science and academia? Which are the reasons and impacts to choosing different expressive tools to tell a story? What are the premises, roles, and strengths of feature documentaries versus online, interactive documentaries?
This workshop will discuss those questions in the context of The Green Divide, a webdocumentary which will be transformed into a feature length documentary exploring urban green inequalities in six cities in North America and Europe. Although this story-telling supports, amplifies, and transforms the research done by ICTA-UAB social environmental scientists around environmental planning and social justice issues, it can be broadened and translated into other fields of knowledge and practice, which this workshop will also explore.
