Workshop "Approaching biocultural diversity through science-based videography"

Date: Friday, February 23rd 2024
Time: 11am.
Venue: Room Z/022 & Z/023 ICTA-UAB

Science communication serves an important purpose in improving societal attitudes towards research. Science-based videography is undoubtedly a powerful medium to effectively engage society in addressing the defining issues of our time, harnessing the power of research to make this world a better place.

The purpose of this 1-hour session is to celebrate the enormous potential of science-based videography to transform all the theoretical and empirical jargon of our research into a powerful visual narrative that can resonate with people from all walks of life. To do so, we will launch a short film about our ongoing biocultural research at ICTA-UAB, and highlight the work of a scientific communication agency that is a frontrunner in weaving the middle spaces between science and the arts.

This 1-hour workshop, funded through the María de Maeztu program, will include:

  1. Presentation of a short film about human-nature relationships in the Catalan Pyrenees, in Catalan with English subtitles.

  2. A talk on the power of science-based videography by the incognita science communications agency.

Support
This workshop is supported by the María de Maeztu Programme for Units of Excellence of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (CEX2019-000940-M).
