We are pleased to announce that Prof. Aaron Hipp, from North Carolina State University, will be giving a keynote on “Whose Environment, Whose Science, Whose Technology?”. Our invited speaker will be available for informal meetings with ICTA-UAB researchers afterwards.  You can also follow the event live by zoom (link below).

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY and EXPERTISE 
Aaron Hipp, PhD, is a Professor of Community Health and Sustainability in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management (College of Natural Resources), and Associate Director of Social and Behavioral Science Applications in the Center for Geospatial Analytics at NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. His research focuses on equitable access and spaces to be active with specific attention on natural environments and measurement development. Dr. Hipp currently instructs courses on nature and wellness and evidence-based decision-making. He serves on the Steering Committee for the National Physical Activity Plan and is an Interdisciplinary Research Leader with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. 
TOPIC of the KEYNOTE 

In this keynote, Dr. Hipp will discuss his interdisciplinary research path and current work related to defining and measuring environment; tthe process of research, evaluation, and decision-making in community science; and the use of technology in research and with communities. This conversation will be guided by recent work with a national playspace non-profit organization and focus on access and equity to spaces for communities to thrive.
