The Research School for Socio-Economic and Natural Sciences of the Environment, SENSE, is organising a one-day interactive symposium aimed at PhD researchers and early-career academics. The event explores global sustainability challenges through a nexus perspective, addressing the complex interrelations among environmental, social, economic, technological, and governance systems with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and the future Agenda.
The symposium opens in the morning with a keynote address by Emeritus Professor Joan Martínez Alier, senior researcher at the ICTA-UAB. Martínez Alier, recipient of the Balzan Prize and the Holberg Prize, and co-founder of the Global Atlas of Environmental Justice, EJAtlas, will contribute fundamental insights from political ecology and environmental justice to rethink current ecological transformations.
