Nature-based solutions and green infrastructure for children

This meeting aims to:

• Briefly update on the progress of Naturvation and ENABLE* projects.

• Present different studies and projects related to NBS/GI and children in the context of Barcelona and beyond

• Discuss how can we enhance the benefits of urban nature for children at different scales (schools, green spaces, neighborhoods, etc.).

These meetings are organized as a stakeholder engagement process under the framework of the European research projects NATURVATION (NATure-based Urban innoVATION) and ENABLE (Enabling Green And Blue Infrastructure Potential In Complex Social-Ecological Regions). Their aim is to discuss the potential of urban green infrastructure and nature-based solutions to address a variety of challenges (e.g., climate change, green inequalities, etc.) currently faced by the city and metropolitan area of Barcelona.

Meetings are designed as a science-policy dialogue open to a wide range of stakeholders (from public authorities to community organizations) involved in green infrastructure planning and management. Normally, meetings include an update of the status of the research projects (NATURVATION and ENABLE), one or more presentations related to a specific topic of interest, and an interactive workshop in reduced groups. The meetings’ format tries to follow a transdisciplinary approach, fostering the co-creation of knowledge on NBS and urban GI.
