This specialty diploma aims to deepen the training of future radio and television producers with a strong theoretical base, completed with internships in the country's main audiovisual communication companies.

At the same time, however, it also provides tools for any journalist who, in the exercise of their work, will need to produce interviews and reports. The degrees in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication at the main Catalan universities do not delve deeply enough into that part of journalistic work that comes before conducting an interview or writing a report, and which usually takes up more than 50% of their time.

How to find, contact and schedule interviews with relevant and/or anonymous people? How to prepare for the filming of an audiovisual piece abroad or an informative documentary? The diploma aims to train students in both the most journalistic aspects of production work and the logistical ones, which are just as important or more important.

The theoretical training will be given by professionals in journalistic production who are currently working in the main media in Catalonia (see the teaching staff section). The theory will be divided into three blocks, production on radio, television and the press in general. And attention will be paid to technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence applied to journalistic production.

The theoretical classes are concentrated on Friday afternoons, from February to June. Two consecutive classes of 3 hours each:

From February 6 to June 19, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The diploma ends with a mandatory internship as a producer in a media outlet. They will be done in the summer, or the last quarter of the course, depending on the places available in the collaborating media outlets.

Career opportunities

With this diploma, you will be qualified to work as a producer in any radio station and as a program coordinator in any television station. This training, however, is essential for any journalist, which will enhance their skills and abilities to perform their daily work more efficiently, and therefore, differentiate themselves from the rest.

- Television guest coordinator
- Television producer
- Documentary producer
- Documentary production assistant

Internships

Curricular internships: Internships are mandatory to complete and obtain the specialization diploma. They involve spending 370 hours in an audiovisual media outlet performing producer tasks. They can be carried out in two shifts: April-May-June or July-August-September (the duration will depend on the daily hours worked in the media outlet). The shift and the media outlet will be chosen during the first two months of classes (February-March) from the options offered by the collaborating journalistic companies. In case there are more requests than available places, the tie will be broken based on the student's CV. The objective of the internships is for students to have a first contact with the professional practice of journalistic production in audiovisual media today. In addition to observing the work of professionals, students will also be able to put into practice the knowledge acquired during theoretical classes and practical work of the postgraduate course.
