"Veus", the UAB's informative conference series
Description:
The Theatre Hall will host a new edition of “Veus”, a day of conferences with the aim of sharing transformative and inspiring knowledge generated at the University with a general audience. It can be attended without prior registration.
Six researchers will talk about different topics, such as bees and their diversity, waste in a more sustainable world, women made invisible by history, a digital future with guarantees, daily economic practices in precarious and unequal contexts, and the legacy of women during the Second Republic.
The event will be closed by Josep Cervelló, director of the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies (IEPOA) and associate professor of Egyptology of the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of the UAB, who will give a lecture on hieroglyphs in Ancient Egypt.

19th Congress of the Spanish Society of Biotechnology
Description:
The Faculty of Biosciences of the UAB will host the 19th Congress of the Spanish Society of Biotechnology (BIOTEC 2025) from 15 to 18 July, a forum for scientific debate in the field of Biotechnology.
Plenary lectures will be held during the programme. The last one, entitled “Biotechnology in the times of AI”, will be given by Alfonso Valencia, lecturer of the Catalan Institute for Advanced Research and Studies (ICREA) and director of the Department of Life Sciences. The conference will take place on 18 July at 12:00 noon at the conference hall of the Faculty of Biosciences.

Challenging artistic hegemony: old and new forms of resistance in algorithmic capitalism
Description:
The Centre for Sociological Studies on Everyday Life and Work (QUIT) and the Institute for Labour Studies (IET) at the UAB are organising the 13th Midterm Conference of the European Sociological Association (ESA) Research Network Sociology of the Arts, which will take place on 8 and 9 September at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and the Faculty of Law. The theme of this year's conference is "Questioning artistic hegemony. Old and new forms of resistance in algorithmic capitalism".
The inauguration will take place on 8 September at 9:00 a.m., in the main lecture hall of the Faculty of Law, and will feature a speech by Laura Santamaria, Vice-Rector for Culture and Language Policy at the UAB. Angela McRobbie, professor at Goldsmiths University, will deliver the inaugural lecture, entitled "Fashion as Creative Economy: Making a Living in London, Berlin, and Milan".

Sixth edition of the CREIS-UAB Workshop
Description:
On 16 September, the Center for Studies and Research in Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CREIS-UAB) will be holding the VI CREIS-UAB Workshop 2025, which will take place from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Sala de Graus of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies. The workshop will feature the opening ceremony by Rosa Maria Sebastián, vice-rector for Innovation, Strategic Projects and Entrepreneurship at the UAB, alongside David Bonvehí, General Director of Social and Solidarity Economy and Cooperativism of the Government of Catalonia; and David Urbano, Director of CREIS. This will be followed by the keynote lecture, delivered by Herman Aguinis, professor at The George Washington University, entitled "Leadership and talent in the context of entrepreneurship and social innovation".
The event will continue with two presentations. One by Mireia Roca and Valentina González from the Training and Research Unit-School of Social Work at the University of Barcelona, who will talk about a chapter in the Yearbook of Entrepreneurship, Economics and Social Innovation, entitled "From individualised work to social recognition: an approach to long-term care in times of crisis". And another presentation by Marcela Santiago, graduate of the UAB's master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, who will talk about the project "Social Entrepreneurship - SOPACK BCN: Your daily dinner," a pilot project for Ciutat Vella, Barcelona.
The workshop will end with a debate entitled "Tetaining and Attracting Talent in the Public Administration Sector in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation". Finally, Àlex Rialp, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, will close the event.
