Several activities have been scheduled at the Faculty of Science in commemoration of World Statistics Day, a day to emphasise the fundamental role of statistics in the development of knowledge and decision-making.

On 18 October the “Power BI Days - Barcelona” conference will be held, which will focus on data visualisation, Microsoft Fabric and artificial intelligence, with presentations on Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query and Dataflows.

The event will feature experts in this sector and will allow attendees to learn about the latest developments in the Power BI ecosystem, along with trends in analytics and artificial intelligence. Participation is free and registration is done through the following link.

On 20 October the Catalan Statistics Society, together with the Mathematical Consulting Service of the UAB, is organising the "25th Statistics Day in Catalonia", focused on applied statistics and artificial intelligence. Daniel Peña, professor at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, will give a conference on the contribution of statistics to artificial intelligence. The awards for the “23rd Student Competition” will then be presented. Attendance is free but registration is required prior to the event.

Description:

From 20 to 24 October 2025, UAB is organising the third edition of the Innovation Week to open up to the territory, showcase its innovation ecosystem and bring the technologies and innovative knowledge generated on campus closer to society.

The aim of the week is to make UAB's commitment to innovation visible from the perspective of different actors, sectors and groups, as well as to connect entrepreneurs with the business network, the network of public-private investors and knowledge centres.

It has a programme that, in different spaces, activities and themes, will create meeting and relationship spaces between the UAB community, start-ups, companies and investors. 

Some of the highlights include the Innovation Fair, the Eines Awards Gala, a conference on art and artificial intelligence, and an event on science and female entrepreneurship.

The Chair in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, an initiative launched by the Centre for Studies and Research in Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CREIS) of the UAB, will be holding the Eines 2025 Awards ceremony on 21 October at 6:30 p.m., at the Teatre Ateneu in Cerdanyola del Vallès. Awards will be given to the best social transformation and innovation projects in three different categories: local projects (developed in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Mollet del Vallès and Montornès del Vallès), Vallès regional projects (Vallès Oriental and Vallès Occidental) and in Catalonia. The Eines Awards receive the support of the city councils of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Mollet del Vallès and Montornès del Vallès, the regional councils of Vallès Oriental and Vallès Occidental, and of the Barcelona Provincial Council.

As part of the UAB Innovation Week, the UAB-Cruïlla Chair organises a unique event in which artistic creativity will meet cutting-edge technology. Prototypes combining scenic arts and artificial intelligence will be presented and there will be live performances.

The activity will take place in three different spaces: the Theatre Hall, the Plaça Cívica and the UAB Associations' Office.
