Presentation of the 'Idees' journal's volume on demography
Description:
The UAB Centre for Demographic Studies has coordinated a volume of the Idees journal dedicated to demography. It will be presented publicly on 17 September at 6:30 p.m. at the Casa Convalescència of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site in Barcelona. The event will include speeches by Andreu Domingo, coordinator of the journal, deputy director of CED-UAB and principal investigator of the research group Globalisation, Migrations and Space; and by demographer Dolores Puga, researcher in the Group on Ageing of the Spanish Higher Research Council (CSIC).

EURASIP Satellite Network of Experts School
Description:
The Quantum Communication and Secure Information (Q-CSI) research group of the UAB Department of Telecommunications and Systems Engineering is organising the Satellite Network of Experts V Seasonal School. This European Space Agency project forms part of the Technology Development Programme, which is co-organised with the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC). The EURASIP Satellite Network of Experts School is designed for early career researchers and industry professionals, including PhD students and post-doc researchers, interested in exploring the latest advances in satellite and space communications. The school will be held on 22 and 23 September 2025, at the UAB Casa Convalescència. It is offered as part of the AIAA's International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC 2025), which will be held from 23 to 25 September. The school will be inaugurated by Holly Ridings, former NASA chief flight director and current director of the Exploration Operations Office.

Inauguration of the academic year at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology
Description:
Ignacio Sánchez-Cuenca, professor at Carlos III University in Madrid, will deliver the inaugural lecture for the 2025/26 academic year at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, entitled: “What if democracy ends?” In addition to the inaugural lecture, the event will feature institutional speeches by UAB Vice-Rector for Economics Xavier Ramos by Dean Xavier Ballart.

Inauguration of the exhibition on women and girl migrants
Description:
Two spaces of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, the PassArtdís and the Sala TarotdeQuinze, will be displaying the exhibition on women and girl migrants entitled "Punts de fuga. Relats d'empoderament de dones i nenes d'origen migrant". The exhibition, which will be on display until 22 November, calls for the right to the integration of migrant women and includes photographs, audios, tactile elements and objects. It is commissioned by Laia Narciso, lecturer of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the UAB, and by Nicolas Hermansen, from the Inistut del Teatre. The faculty's Sala de graus will host the inauguration of the exhibition on 22 September at 12 noon.

Cécile Barbeito and Marina Caireta present the book 'La pau s'aprèn'
Description:
Researchers Cécile Barbeito and Marina Caireta from the UAB School for a Culture of Peace will present their book entitled La pau s'aprèn. Com cultivar les relacions i les condicions per una escola pacífica (Octaedro) on 22 September, as part of the activities organised for the Catalan Book Week held in Passeig Lluís Companys of Barcelona. The presentation will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Escenari 1 and will be moderated by Jaume Carbonell and Mireia Ferret. This will be followed at 5:30 p.m by a conversation between Barbeito and Caireta at the IBBYCAT stand entitled Parlem de pedagogia in which they will speak on the subject of the book: education as a tool for peace, caring and everyday resistance.
