International Conference on Teaching Innovation in Higher Education in Europe

On 10 February, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the international conference ColLab will be held online. Organised by the University of Aveiro under the framework of the ECIU University, it will bring together lecturers from different European universities to talk about the future of teaching and learning.

In addition to the inspiring talks about the future of teaching and learning, the ColLab conference also will include presentations from the winners of academic prizes in different countries, who will be sharing their innovative experiences.

The creation of networks will be a central part of this conference and participants will have numerous opportunites to connect with other professionals through the ColLab platform, which aims to foster debates, share teaching practices, and provide training for higher education teachers (Communities of Practice) based on innovative learning methods such as challenge-based learning (CBL), collaborative online international learning (COIL) and even any other new or challenging teaching practices which may appear. Participants can adjust their profile, join a community and even begin their own communities of practice.

Lecturer Sergi Robles, from the UAB School of Engineering, will be participating in the event entitled “Gamification in Higher Education: motivation as a reinforcement of learning”, which will take place at 11:30 a.m.

The conference will also include the participation of lecturers from the University of Aveiro, Portugal; Tampere University, Finland; the University of Minho, Portugal; Linköping University, Sweden; University of Stavanger, Norway; University of Twente, the Netherlands; Dublin University, Ireland; University of Mainz, Germany; University of Trento, Italy; Hamburg University, Germany; Leipzig University, Germany; and Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania.

The international conference is free of charge, but registration is required.

COLLab is an ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnership coordinated by the University of Aveiro in Portugal, in collaboration with the University of Trento, Italy; Hamburg University, Germany; Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania; and the University of Stavanger, Norway. These universities form part of a broader alliance called the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), a leading European network of universities defying the conventional forms of teaching, research and innovating through initiatives offered by the different EU universities.
