From 4 to 8 April, INSA Toulouse hosted the first exchange activity under the framework of the international micro-module “Intercultural Competences: Guiding practical insights through Citizen Science”, organised jointly by 7 ECIU institutions.

During those days, 25 students enrolled in the course participated in this exchange with experts, instructors and teams, and learned how to self-evaluate their initial skills in an intercultural environment, in citizen science projects, and to identify the main differences between cultural background and communication.

This micro-module was made up of a hybrid model: the majority of hours took place online with evaluations conducted in on-site meetings. The closing event in Toulouse was funded through a new Erasmus programme funding scheme, the Blended Intensive Program (BIP), which allowed students to participate in several intercultural activities, such as a visit to the city of Toulouse to discover the local culture.

The micro-module was offered by the UAB, the INSA Groupe (France), the Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), the University of Trento (Italy), University of Stavanger (Norway), the University of Twente (the Netherlands) and Aalborg University (Denmark), and its objective was to help students determine and improve their level of intercultural skills with a series of conferences and team training with top experts in Europe. These skills were then applied to an international citizen science project.

“Intercultural Competences” took place during 9 weeks and included the participation of 136 students, 8 of whom were from the UAB.
