This EUT+ international conference invites researchers, and practitioners in the field to explore the multifaceted phenomenon of multilingualism, plurilingualism, and cross-cultural connections in the 21st century. Hosted by TU Dublin Language Studies, the conference aims to foster an engaging interdisciplinary dialogue that explores the intricate interplay between languages, technologies, and cross-cultural connections. This conference will provide a platform for presenting and discussing innovative research, exchanging best practices, and fostering collaboration across diverse fields, following the Council of Europe Recommendation 2022.1, which encourages higher education institutions “to engage in research that contributes to international understanding of plurilingualism and intercultural dialogue at all educational levels and in all social domains.”

María Belén Rabadán, Spanish teacher at Idiomes UAB Barcelona, presented her paper From Theory to Practice: Navigating Cultural Differences in Teaching Spanish to Chinese Students, in which she explored how Spanish teachers can bridge cultural differences with their Chinese students by incorporating intercultural competence into their teaching. She also highlighted the gap that often exists between theory and real classroom practice.
