The value information has for today's society, associated with technological changes and a growing social demand in transparency in public management issues, cannot be considered without taking into account records management, given the quality of records as a necessary support when informing of the activities carried out by organisations.

The combination of these factors gives way to the expansion of records and archival management to cover more than just processes in records production. It also includes an area in which information strengthens the image of organisations as a positive asset and, at the same time, its exploitation becomes basic material for the management, decision-taking and creation of knowledge, both at internal levels of the organisations and when fully accessible to the public.

This area in which the methodology of records and archival management overlaps in solutions and technological platforms, the development of electronic government, management of interoperability, the treatment of large volumes of information (Big Data), open access to information (Open Data), etc., determines the need to offer specific training which meets the growing demand for experts with the adequate knowledge and skills to use and integrate these resources and action approaches.

  • Public administration units including services for records management and archival centres, at different administration levels: state, national, regional, departmental, autonomic and local.
  • Organisations, private entities and businesses: management of records and archives in universities, professional associations, teaching centres, financial entities, healthcare centres and clinics, professional firms, mass media.
  • Archiving and records services: consultancies, archival organisations, strategic plans, digitalisation services, record security systems, digital preservation, computer applications for records management.
