History of Science: History, Heritage and Scientific Communication

Master description

The curriculum is structured into two semesters of 30 ECTS each. In the first semester, most of the compulsory training is concentrated, with the courses “Episodes: Science in History,” “Perspectives: Historiography and Theoretical Frameworks,” and “Heritage and Scientific Communication,” each worth 10 ECTS. In the second semester, compulsory training is completed with the course “Methodological Tools,” worth 3 ECTS, and all elective training is taken. On the one hand, students must choose three of the six elective courses worth 5 ECTS (“From the Ancient World to the Modern through Islam: Humans and Nature”; “From the Ancient World to the Modern through Islam: From the Closed World to the Infinite Universe”; “Discourses, Practices and Spaces of Health and Disease”; “Body, Subject and Society”; “Contemporary Technoscience”; “Technology, Infrastructures and Environment”). On the other hand, they must choose one of the two elective courses worth 6 ECTS (“Introduction to Research” or “Professional Internships”). Finally, the curriculum is completed with the “Master’s Thesis,” worth 6 ECTS, for the preparation of which a training sequence is planned, ranging from the course “Methodological Tools,” which is more theoretical and introductory, to “Introduction to Research” and “Professional Internships,” which are more advanced and applied.
