Basic skills
- Students must have and understand knowledge of an area of study built on the basis of general secondary education, and while it relies on some advanced textbooks it also includes some aspects coming from the forefront of its field of study.
- Students must be capable of applying their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional way and they should have building arguments and problem resolution skills within their area of study.
- Students must be capable of collecting and interpreting relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make statements that reflect social, scientific or ethical relevant issues.
- Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
- Students must develop the necessary learning skills to undertake further training with a high degree of autonomy.
Specific skills
- Identify the periods, traditions, trends, authors and most significant works in Spanish literature in its historical and social context.
- Recognise the main theories, topics and literary genres in different Spanish-speaking countries.
- Analyse the main phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic properties of English and their historical development and current structure.
- Identify typologically the main phenomena of the Spanish language and relate them to similar phenomena in other languages.
- Use the methodology and concepts of literary analysis taking into account sources and contexts.
- Identify the linguistic characteristics of the different periods in the evolution of the Spanish language.
- Demonstrate standardised knowledge of the Spanish language and mastery in its applications in the academic and professional environment.
- Interpret texts in Spanish language from a philological and comparative base.
- Analyse the main phenomena in Spanish language variation (historical, diatopic, semantic and pragmatic).
- Apply the techniques and methods of critical edition and digital processing to the analysis and treatment of written texts and multimedia files.
- Produce arguments applicable to the areas of Hispanic literature, literary theory, Spanish language and linguistics and evaluate their academic importance.
- Assess organisations and institutions in terms of questions of language and literature.
Transversal skills
- Demonstrate skills for independent and team working for the purpose of achieving the planned objectives i multicultural and interdisciplinary contexts.
- Use digital tools and specific documentary sources for finding and organising information.
- Apply the scientific ethical principles for handling information.
- Carry out effective written work and spoken presentations adapted to the appropriate register in different languages.
