08/11/2018
On 15 November, the CIMCETT research group will organise a session in Aula Europa (Passeig de Gràcia 90, Barcelona) which will bring together experts to debate on the topic of human trafficking.
Participating will be representatives from Frontex, Europol, the International Migrations Organisation, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the United Nations University, as well as the Spanish public prosecutor who has worked on cases of human trafficking.
The session will begin at 9 a.m. with Mark Jeffery, Communications Director of the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona, and Claudia Jiménez, lecturer at the UAB Department of Public Law and Legal History Studies and main researcher of the CIMCETT project. Following their opening presentation, the session will dedicate the morning to two topics: general issues regarding inter-institutional cooperation and international cooperation in pursuing suspects.
The research project "La cooperació internacional com a mitjà imprescindible per combatre el tràfic de persones: el paper de la UE i altres organismes internacionals" [International Cooperation as an Essential Means to Fight Human Trafficking: the role of the EU and other international organisations] (CIMCETT) is funded by the Spanish Ministry for Economics and Competitiveness (2017-2019 period). The main objective of the project is to analyse both legal and institutional cooperation in fighting against human trafficking.
