"Deterministic Engineering vs. Probabilistic Artificial Intelligence: Points of Convergence and Friction"

Cartell del seminari Cafe IA

The Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Law at the UAB is organizing a new session of the Café#AI program, inviting participants to reflect on the foundations and challenges of modern artificial intelligence. On this occasion, Carlos Cosials Ruiz (9altitudes Spain) will explore the differences between classical deterministic approaches and the probabilistic models that drive contemporary AI, as well as their ethical and technological implications.

The Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Law at the UAB is hosting a new Café#AI session featuring Carlos Cosials Ruiz (9altitudes Spain). The talk will address the key differences between traditional deterministic engineering approaches and the probabilistic models that underpin current artificial intelligence, along with the challenges and opportunities arising from their interaction.

The seminar aims to encourage critical reflection on the limits of technological control, the reliability of data-driven systems, and the impact these technologies have on automated decision-making.

The event will take place on November 5, 2025, from 17:30 to 18:30 CET, at the Victoria Kent Room, Faculty of Law (UAB), and is open to the entire university community.
