Conference on housing and energy poverty

On May 9th at 12:00 PM, a conference on housing and energy poverty will occur at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law at the UAB.
05/05/2025
This event presents us with the issue of housing, which is a fundamental pillar for people's well-being and dignity, but many households in our society still do not have access to decent housing or basic services such as electricity and water. And this leads us to the topic of energy poverty, which refers to the difficulty or inability to keep a home at an adequate temperature. It is often an invisible phenomenon closely linked to economic precariousness. For this reason, the conference aims to reflect on the relationship between housing, poverty, and access to resources, an essential step toward understanding the dynamics of exclusion in our society and thus being able to build fairer and more inclusive public policies.
The event is organized by the Barcelona Chair for Housing Studies and the Sustainability Committee of the Faculty of Law, UAB. The conference will feature professionals such as: Susana Navas Navarro, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Irene González Pijuan, Engineer, Energy and Extractives Group - Engineers Without Borders, Josep Escartín Laurito, Ombudsman of Sabadell and president of the Forum of Local Ombudspersons of Catalonia (FòrumSD), Marta Jiménez Canals, Lawyer and Mediator, Sílvia Grau Fontanals, Director of the Emergency Housing Actions Division, Catalan Housing Agency, Víctor Costa Llordés, Consultant and expert in energy communities, Judith Gifreu Font, Associate Professor of Administrative Law and Co-Director of the Barcelona Chair for Housing Studies and Núria Reynal Querol, Coordinator of the Law Degree and Vice Dean of Sustainability.
