Ricardo Esteban, new dean of the Faculty of Law

Ricardo Esteban

Ricardo Esteban, professor of labour and social security law and member of the Department of Public Law and Legal History Studies at the UAB, was elected new dean of the UAB Faculty of Law in the elections held on 25 and 26 June. Esteban will take office on 1 September and will succeed the current dean, Professor Susana Navas, who was elected in 2022.

The new dean's team is completed by José Antonio Fernández Amor, secretary of the Faculty and head of Economics and Infrastructures; Núria Reynal, vice-dean for Academic Planning, Master's Degrees and Sustainability; Marc Abraham Puig, vice-dean for Quality, Teaching Innovation and Promotion; Albert Pastor, vice-dean for Students and Employability and coordinator of final projects for the Bachelor's Degree in Law; Mª Carmen Navarro, vice-dean and coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Criminology and the double degree in Law and Criminology; Joan Baucells, vice-dean and coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Law and double degrees; Olga Paz, vice-dean and coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Labour Relations, the double degree in Law and Labour Relations, external internships and final projects for the bachelor's degree in Labour Relations; Cristina Blasi, coordinator of Mobility, Internationalisation and Communication; and Joaquín Rodríguez, coordinator of external internships for the degree in Law and the double degree in Business Administration and Law.

Professor Esteban is currently vice-dean of Academic Planning, Law + Droit and Master's Degrees. He is member of the Spanish Association of Labour and Social Security Law, of which he was the general secretary. He is member of the Institute of Labour Studies (IET) of the UAB and was also part of the Centre for Studies and Research for an Inclusive Society (CERSIN) of the UAB. He is author of numerous articles and monographs, and some of his outstanding fields of research are work and employment of people with disabilities, temporary disability, platform work and trade union representations. He has supervised two PhD theses and is member of the scientific board of the journal Documentación Laboral.

Professor Esteban is the first dean of the Faculty of Law to be elected according to the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU), with a system of elections by universal suffrage and weighted voting. The LOSU establishes that the term of office for the holders of elected unipersonal bodies is, in all cases, six years, non-renewable and non-extendable.
