Jordi Barbé, member of the SGR Group of Molecular Microbiology and lecturer in the Department of Genetics and Microbiology at the UAB, will give a conference on the similarities and differences between humans and bacteria,d elving into the key concepts needed better to understand  our biological surroundings. The event will take place on 1 April at 6:00 p.m. at the Mestre Martí Tauler Library in Rubí and is organised by the AmicsUAB association.

The Periodicals Room of the UAB Faculty of Arts & Humanities will host a conference entitled Pobles abandonats: una herència universal per al coneixement i desenvolupament del territori. This conference on abandoned towns will be given by Òscar Jané, lecturer of modern history and vice-rector for International Relations at the UAB.

This session forms part of the “Les ruralitats del Campus de la UAB" conference series offered by the Seminar of Advanced Anthropological Theories and Research, organised by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology. The programme aims to raise awareness of and give importance to the rural past of the UAB campus, and to see how it still survives in today's environment. The event will take place on 4 April at 10:00 a.m.

The conference series runs from February to April at the Preiodicals Room of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. The sessions are open to the general public and free of charge.

The “Ecosocial crisis, implications and challenges” series consists of 6 conferences and is organised by lecturer Josep Espluga, together with the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and the UAB's Solidarity Foundation. It is aimed at students from all the UAB campus.

The fifth conference is entitled "Global Extractivism and Climate Migrations", and will be given by Miguel Pajares, honorary president of the Catalan Commission for Refugee Action. It will take place on 24 April, at 1:00 p.m., in Aula 13 of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the UAB.

Within the series "From Dictatorship to Democracy", coordinated by the professor of contemporary history at the UAB Carme Molinero, the Faculty of Arts & Humanities will host the colloquium "Nusos opositors en la lluita contra la dictadura" [Opposition knots in the fight against the dictatorship]. The various papers of the conference will address the role of the anti-Franco opposition in the delegitimisation, questioning and crisis of Francoism, an activism that made it impossible to maintain the dictatorship. The colloquium is coordinated by Professor Molinero and Pere Ysàs, professor of contemporary history at the UAB, and will feature a series of presentations on the spaces of dissidence during the dictatorship, the role of communists and the “revolutionary left” in the democratic struggle, the renewal of nationalism, the reconstruction of the PSOE and anti-Francoist cultural expressions. The series is part of “Spain in Freedom. 50 Years”, a set of activities organised by the Spanish government throughout 2025 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the death of dictator Francisco Franco and the beginning of the transition to a democratic regime.

From 5 to 7 May the UAB Faculty of Science will host "Quantum Days at the UAB" (Q-UAB Days), an event organised as part of the United Nations' International Year of Quantum Science and Technology which will bring together renowned researchers and students to explore the latest advances and real-life applications of quantum science. 

The event is co-organised by the UAB, the IMB-CNM and the ICMAB, in collaboration with researchers from the ICN2 and the IFAE. It is distributed into three sessions, each taking place from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Sala d'Actes of the Faculty of Science.

Each session will be dedicated to a specific area of quantum science and technology, in which the most recent developments and cutting-edge discoveries will be discussed: Quantum information and Detection on 5 May, Quantum Light and Matter on 6 May and Quantum Chips on 7 May. Each day will conclude with an interactive colloquium in which attendees will be able to engage with researchers, ask questions and discuss the future of quantum technologies.

The "Crisi ecosocial, implicacions i reptes" series is formed by 6 conferences organised by lecturer Josep Espluga, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and the Fundació Autònoma Solidària. It is aimed at all members of the UAB community.

This sixth and final conference is entitled "E-waste and Sustainability: waste contradictions in a digital society" and will be given by Blanca Callén, lecturer of the UAB Department of Social Psychology. The conference will take place on 6 May at 1:00 p.m. at the Aula 13 of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.
