Las estancias de intercambio pueden ser para el primer semestre, el segundo semestre o el año completo (dependiendo del acuerdo).
Durante su estancia en la UAB, los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso estarán en las Unidades Docentes del Hospital (no en el Campus Bellaterra).
No está permitido realizar las prácticas clínicas durante el verano, fuera del periodo calendario. La Unidad Docente Hospitalaria asignada se pondrá en contacto con el estudiante para concretar el cronograma específico de prácticas clínicas.
Grado en Medicina
Los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso pueden cursar asignaturas teóricas (en 3.º, 4.º y 5.º año) y/o rotaciones clínicas/prácticas. Las rotaciones son exclusivas para el último año de estudiante. Las estudiantes pueden inscribirse hasta 42 ECTS creditos, para una estancia de un semestre, o hasta 78 ECTS creditos si vienen todo el curso académico.
IMPORTANTE: Las prácticas clínicas de sexto año son exclusivas para los estudiantes de último año de la carrera de Medicina.
Estas prácticas clínicas tienen un horario especial y su duración puede variar según cada una.
Language requirements
To follow studies at Faculty of Medicine at UAB it is required :
- B2 in Catalan or Spanish, if the student wants to take internships from Clinical Practice.
- B1 in Catalan or Spanish, for the rest of the subjects.
Accepted certifications: Official certificates, certificates issued by the Language Services of the home university or certificates issued by the home university.
If the student does not attach it during the application period, he/she will be provisionally accepted until the presentation of the document, by July at the latest.
Our study programme is based on a big practical charge, where our students are in contact with patients who usually speak in Spanish or Catalan. In consequence, no classes are given in English, so a good level of Spanish or Catalan is necessary to receive a good medical education.
The courses are taught in Spanish or Catalan, upon the professors, and it is informed in the study guides.
UAB can also offer to our incoming students the possibility of complementing their Spanish knowledge by entering some Spanish or Catalan course at our Language School.
During the stay at UAB the exchange students are going to be in the Hospital Teaching Units (not at the Bellaterra Campus).
Degree in Medicine
The Hospital Teaching Units of UAB for the degree in Medicine are:
- Teaching Unit Sant Pau
- Teaching Unit Vall d’Hebron
- Teaching Unit Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol
- Teaching Unit Parc Tauli
Students can express their preferences (in the Application for subjects), but the assignment to a Hospital Teaching Unit will be done by the Coordination.
Criteria for the hospital assignment:
- Course offer. It will be taken into account the courses in the application of the student to make sure that students can make as much subjects as possible.
- Order of preference.
- In the event of a tie, the student's average grade will be considered. The student must submit their transcript or a certificate of grades that includes this average.
- Students with any type of disability that disrupt and/or restrain mobility must submit the relevant documentation, which will be considered to determine the most suitable Teaching Unit for their needs.
The final assignment will be notified to the student at the same time as their program of studies is accepted. This communication will be made by email.Subsequently the Hospital Teaching Unit will contact students, in the case of the Clinical internship, to inform them of the schedule.
Degree in Nursing
Nursing students do their subjects and practices in the following hospitals:
- Teaching Unit Vall d’Hebron
- Teaching Unit Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol
- Teaching Unit Parc Tauli
The the assignment to a Hospital Teaching Unit will be done by the Exchange Coordinator during the admission and course selection process.
Degree in Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy students taking 2nd and 3rd year courses are assigned to Sant Pau Teaching Unit during their stay at the UAB, and students assigned to 4th year courses are assigned to Vall Hebron Teaching Unit. There they will study both theory and practice of the subjects in which they are enrolled.
Combining both options is not advisable since courses are taugh in different hospitals. Please contact us if should you have any query about the process.
Some elective subjects may be given in other hospital Teaching Units, which are indicated in the annual planning.The assignation of clinical practices will be individually closed.

The schedules will be published before the enrollment period.
The final registration of elective subjects will be conditioned to the existence of available places at UAB when the student does his/her registration at the Exchange Office.Without these documents and the on-line application it is not possible to accept your study program at UAB neither your assignment to our Hospital Teaching Unit. Invitation to UAB will be done once accepted your study program.

The Exchange Office at the Faculty of Medicine (Bellaterra Campus) will complete your enrollment before the start of your stay will provide you with a copy.
At the time of enrollment, a medical and civil liability insurance with coverage in Spain will be included. The insurance fee for the 26/27 academic year will be €4.02.
When you receive the email with your enrollment, you must make the insurance payment through https://sia.uab.es/: Log in with your NIU and password at the following link: TPV payment.
Compulsory documents for enrollment:
- Valid identity document (scan/photo).
- Academic agreement / Learning Agreement
- Postal address where you will be residing during your stay and contact telephone number
Enrolment will be processed in order of receipt of the complete documentation from the student (to be taken into account in the case of optional subjects) and we will send you your receipt once it has been formalised.
