The INc-UAB welcomes the new management board
After two successful terms under the leadership of Dr. Jesús Giraldo, the Institute enters a new chapter with changes in its management team. Dr. Carles Saura steps into the role of director, with Dr. Gemma Guillazo Blanch joining as deputy director.

Dr. Saura, a Full Professor at UAB, brings extensive experience in scientific leadership, having served in the Spanish State Research Agency, the Spanish Society for Neuroscience, and other scientific committees. He has also been part of the Institute’s management team in the past. His priorities include fostering research excellence by building strong collaborations with both national and international institutions. He also aims to boost technological capabilities and infrastructure, ensuring the Institute remains at the forefront of neuroscience research, with a strategic focus on attracting top young talent.
Dr. Giraldo expressed heartfelt thanks for the support received throughout his tenure, especially from his team, Drs. Carlos Barcia, Jose Ramón Bayascas, Clara Penas, and Albert Quintana, as well as from administrative and technical staff, represented in the board by Mailo Serveto and Javier Carrasco. He also acknowledged all the researchers at the Institute, particularly early-career scientists, offering a special mention to NEURODOCS. Under his leadership, the Institute achieved remarkable growth in research projects, publications, infrastructure, and knowledge transfer. We congratulate the team for their work and deeply thank them for their dedication.
At the same time, we are sure that the new board will face future challenges with enthusiasm, commitment, and renewed energy.
