Six Artificial Intelligence projects shine at the AI4ALL demo day
On 2 December, the seventh edition of the AI4ALL programme, promoted by the UAB Research Park, the Computer Vision Centre, the UAB School of Engineering and the CSIC Institute for Research in Artificial Intelligence, concluded with a presentation of the projects developed.
Yesterday afternoon, the Multipurpose Hall of the Eureka Building was filled with entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence as the demo day for the seventh edition of AI4ALL took place.
During the event, six entrepreneurial projects with AI as a central element, developed by researchers from the UAB campus, presented their innovative ideas, devised over the six-month duration of the programme.
The Vice-Rector for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation, Rosa Maria Sebastián, and the Coordinator of AI, Quantum and Blockchain Strategies at the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Sergi Masip, were responsible for opening the demoday. Following this, Júlia Palma and Dani Franco, the programme coordinators, introduced the members of the jury.
Each of the six participating teams had five minutes to present their idea to a jury of experts in business idea evaluation. The four members were Carles Vericat, a UAB alumnus and Commercial Development Director at SCALAI; Albert Gil, CTO at M.IA, a computer engineer from UAB and innovation technician at the Research Park; Lorena Poveda, Digital Transformation Lead at PepsiCo; and Margarida Romero, a researcher at the IIIA-CSIC.
LeapStudio and MonQAI, winners of the AI4ALL demo day
After a period of debate and high-level presentations, MonQAI and LeapStudio were the two projects selected as winners and will have the opportunity to participate in the AI Accelerator programme of the RDI-IA Network. MonQAI has been developed by Miquel Cruel, Mariela Quesada, María José Navarro and Gerard Badia Arderiu; a digital platform to optimise the management of clinical trials in hospitals, contributing to more agile, precise and patient-centred medical research.
On the other hand, LeapStudio is a smart hub that combines AI and gamification to democratise access to wellbeing and encourage adherence to healthy habits, offering a complete ecosystem that motivates, guides and supports each person on their journey towards a more balanced life. It was created by Elena Marmol, Ferran Jovell, Rosa Fernández, Nuria Marimón and Raquel Obregón.
In addition to the two winning projects, four others have participated in the programme:
- Guillermo Miltos and Alexandra Bustos have developed Transferplus, a digital platform that accelerates open innovation by connecting medium-sized companies with real technological solutions from spin-offs and research centres.
- Capsule, by Phoebe Iglesias, Oscar López and Gisel Sinaí, transforms photos, videos, audio and memories into living, interactive and collaborative time capsules. Thanks to its artificial intelligence system capable of generating emotional narratives, it not only preserves memories, but also turns them into unique experiences.
- Ricard Baulíes Fusté, Pablo Pusiol, Sebastián Heredia and Pablo Mira have created Noctua to anticipate risks and support professionals in their decision-making to provide more humane and personalised care.
- Distrakt, by Guillermo López, Amirhossein Karami and Iván Ortiz Sánchez, is a digital assistant that combines technology and psychology to reduce screen exposure at night and improve the quality of sleep for young people between the ages of 18 and 34.
The aim of the AI4ALL programme is to promote the creation of technological and entrepreneurial projects in Artificial Intelligence. It is subsidised by the Department of Business and Labour, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus and supported by the RDI-AI Network.
