6 entrepreneurial projects, selected as finalists at the Demo Day of the 'Visionaris' course
Last Wednesday, 26 November, the Emprèn UAB space at Plaça Cívica hosted the Demo Day of the course “Visionaris”, the introductory entrepreneurship programme of the UAB. A total of 17 students presented 15 projects, from which a jury of entrepreneurship experts selected six that now move on to the final phase and compete for specialised mentoring.
On Wednesday 26 November, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Emprèn UAB space, located at Plaça Cívica, was transformed into a stage for innovative ideas during the Demo Day of the course “Visionaris”. The event allowed students to share, through 4-minute pitches, the projects they had been developing throughout the course sessions.
In total, 17 students defended 15 entrepreneurial proposals before a jury composed of: Sílvia Piqueras, Director of the UAB Employability Service; Júlia Palma, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Territory Unit at the UAB Research Park; Carles Martínez, lecturer at the UAB Faculty of Economics and Business Studies and CEO of Ciane Consulting; and Minerva Estruch, Entrepreneurship Officer at the UAB Employability Service.
After the presentations, the jury selected six finalist projects that stand out for their potential and level of development:
| Team | Project | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Yluka Bourbigot Ishiguro | Biopolymers | Biotechnological solution that uses microbial consortia to degrade polypropylene in the lab and turn it into more useful compounds within a circular economy model. |
| Glayci Erruas Do Nascimiento | NanoBioSense | Portable biosensor that detects breast cancer biomarkers in saliva in under a minute and is designed to provide fast, low-cost and non-invasive screening. |
| Alejandro González Martos | CompyPrix | Website and app that compares supermarket prices in real time and is used to offer recommendations, nutritional information and give visibility to small retailers. |
| Nora López Pardo | Clàssica Connect | Digital platform that brings together classical musicians and serves to showcase their portfolio, connect with other professionals and access job opportunities. |
| Joan Marc Samó Rojas and Josep Maria Cases Domínguez | Nova (Europe Robotics) | Autonomous quadruped robot that intelligently monitors the home using computer vision, facial recognition and advanced AI. |
| Valeria Codina Vásquez | Valia Studios | Digital transformation studio that designs end-to-end projects for companies and is used to automate processes with AI, improve efficiency and reduce technology-related costs. |
After the Demo Day, all “Visionaris” students will prepare the investor deck for their projects. The jury will pay special attention to the decks of the six finalist projects to choose the three winners, who will receive mentoring from expert professionals to develop a first prototype of their project and will also enjoy a networking session with experienced entrepreneurs.
“Visionaris” is a 26-hour in-person course aimed mainly at UAB undergraduate and master’s students, but also open to the rest of the university community. Undergraduate students who complete it can obtain 3 ECTS credits.
