Grants of up to €50,000 for entrepreneurship to boost economic transformation in the Ascó and Vandellòs area
The Government of Catalonia has launched a new call for applications under the Nuclear Transition Fund, aimed at promoting economic diversification in municipalities affected by the planned closure of the Ascó and Vandellòs nuclear power plants. The programme offers non repayable grants for entrepreneurial and business projects, with an annual budget of €35 million until 2032.

The Nuclear Transition Fund (NTF) aims to finance projects that enable territories economically dependent on nuclear power plants to evolve towards other sectors. The Ascó and Vandellòs plants are scheduled to close in 2030 and 2031 respectively, a change that will affect around 3,000 jobs.
With this in mind, the Government of Catalonia has launched a call for non repayable grants aimed at entrepreneurs and companies wishing to set up in municipalities located within 30 km of the Ascó and Vandellòs nuclear power plants. A total of 96 municipalities in Terres de l’Ebre, Camp de Tarragona, Les Garrigues and Segrià are eligible. Until 2032, €35 million will be allocated each year through different funding lines.
The grants cover a wide range of initiatives, from early stage proposals to business growth projects and technological innovation. Early stage entrepreneurial projects may obtain subsidies ranging from €20,000 to €50,000.
The call offers six funding lines:
- High value entrepreneurship (€20,000 to €50,000).
- Investment in fixed assets (new activity, improvements or expansion). Up to 60% of the investment is subsidisable, with a minimum investment of €100,000.
- Job creation (50% of company costs during the first year, with a minimum of three new jobs).
- Growth projects and new business models (up to €442,000).
- Cooperative projects between companies (up to €200,000).
- Applied technological innovation (digital, green or industrial transformation), with grants from €25,000 to €150,000.
Applications must be submitted by 31 July 2025 at 14:00. The call is held annually.
