Hispanic Art History Digital Library (BDHAH)
The Digital Library of Hispanic Art History is a project aimed at collecting and disseminating in a single portal all printed materials related to the production, study, and dissemination of Hispanic arts and monumental heritage, from the modern era until they enter the public domain. Its goal is to provide access to books, pamphlets, and periodicals, especially lesser-known or hard-to-find materials, and to promote research in the Social Sciences and Humanities.
The project focuses primarily on Hispanic bibliography, while also including texts in other languages specifically dealing with Hispanic art. Digitisation begins with 19th-century publications, including theoretical and technical treatises, exhibition and collection catalogues, monographs on artists and monuments, institutional publications, and specialised journals, providing a systematic collection of dispersed and often inaccessible material.
The digital library aims to make available to historians and researchers a documentary corpus that allows for a thorough review of the origins of Spanish art historiography, highlighting authors and studies predating the 20th century. Once the 19th-century collection is consolidated, the project plans to expand to earlier sources, ensuring the preservation and dissemination of Hispanic art bibliographic heritage.
