Call for Collaboration — The VISART project (UPF) is seeking a collaborator to test computer vision tools for the analysis of historical images.
Announcement details
CommunicationThe VISART research project at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is seeking a collaborator to take part in testing computer vision tools applied to the analysis of historical image collections.
About the project: Our collections include a wide range of visual materials: photographs, drawings, postcards, newspaper clippings, among others. Some of these collections also contain handwritten information.
Objectives of the collaboration: The selected candidate will work on exploring and testing artificial intelligence technologies to analyse these materials, with particular interest in:
- Identifying different types of visual supports
- Identifying different handwritings
- Detecting stains, fingerprints, and other marks of use
- Identifying images in which people or other elements appear
Approach: This is not intended to produce a definitive analysis of the collections, but rather to engage in a process of trial and error and familiarisation with AI technologies, in order to better understand their potential and help define how the project may benefit from these tools in the future.
Conditions: This is a paid collaboration, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
