Introduction of authentic learning in theoretical subjects of the Degree in Journalism

The project seeks to improve the teaching-learning process in a group of subjects with a theoretical profile in the Journalism degree by introducing productive tasks based on an approach based on authentic learning (Oblinger, 2007; Herrington et al, 2009).

Specifically, four subjects and the media of the Faculty of Communication Sciences (UABmèdia) are coordinated so that students produce podcasts focused on the content of theoretical subjects with a sufficient level of quality to be broadcast in these media.

In this way, a teaching route is created that goes from the first year to the fourth year where students will practice their most practical skills and competencies while acquiring new ones and incorporating theoretical content useful for their future professional practice. UABmèdia participates in the project as a fundamental leg to be able to provide the project with authenticity.

 

The expected results are: an improvement in the teaching-learning process in the subjects involved, a greater involvement of students in the operation of UABmèdia, improving the perception of the most theoretical subjects by students and helping them in the promotion of their professional career through the showcase of the Faculty's media.
